Challenge Faced

For this project, much like others in dense, urban environments with tight sight logistics, material laydown space and equipment placement become a challenge. The area identified for material laydown was very small and had to be properly maximized The need for a construction crane that required set up and tear down also proved to be daunting, particularly due to the project’s proximity to a busy, pedestrian-heavy shopping mall and the disruptions its operations could cause to area businesses and patrons.

Solution Provided

To maximize space on the project site, Reeves Young provided a space-efficient Conex-compound for trade partners to utilize that was stacked and strategically located so as to not interrupt construction operations.

To ensure smooth setup, operation, and tear down of the construction crane, Reeves Young enlisted a consultant to essentially “x-ray” the road, searching for any voids or areas of concern. Upon receiving  the consultant’s report and recommendation that we were safe to continue, we then sent a proposed traffic control plan to the mall and nearby businesses detailing our efforts to minimize disruptions and maintain traffic control around the area to ensure vehicular and pedestrian safety at all times.
